Huntingdon Canoe Club

Welcome to the new Huntingdon Canoe Club website

Huntingdon Canoe Club is a friendly club, accomodating most levels of paddler.

The club has been in existence for over 30 years and is affiliated to the British Canoe Union.

Our interests vary from flat water basics to small tours, kayak surfing, playboating and white-water river running. Within the club we have qualified and experienced paddlers who can certify to BCU 2 star level and instruct to 3 star white water level, teaching both kayaking and canoeing. The club can also arrange higher level courses outside the club with club associated coaches.

The club can supply most of the kit including boats, buoyancy aids, paddles, spray-decks, helmets, etc. subject to availability.

We run several trips throughout the year as well as coaching sessions at Huntingdon swimming pool throughout the Autumn and Winter. Our pool sessions focus on preventing capsize and what to do in case of capsize including paddle rolls and basic rescues.

Wednesday night is our main coaching night during the Summer months and paddlers that have mastered the basics are welcome to join us on Saturday mornings all year round.

Our past trips have included; River Tryweryn & River Dee in North Wales, Symonds Yat, Holme Pierrepont, Nene White-water Centre, River Dart, River Severn and various beaches in Devon, Cornwall and Norfolk!

We welcome young paddlers but we do encourage parents to participate (although not compulsory).

We also run some social events throughout the year where non-paddling partners and family are also welcome.
