Registration of Interest - Discover Award

Registration of Interest for Members who are interested in doing an Discover Award & Paddle Safer Award

Once sufficient numbers have registered there interest, we will look at running a course using internal or external coaches as required

Discover Award Catchup and Paddle Safer Award

Participants should be able to paddle in a straight line happily and be looking to go onto the Saturday morning paddles. As there is significant overlap with the Paddle Safer award I will look to teach these two elements in tandem.

We will be covering the Discover syllabus with the aim that you will be a strong member of a led group, or be looking to plan some adventures. You should be able to choose and craft and understand the likely performance, assess the weather and conditions for a paddle and select appropriate clothing. I will also cover some strokes and connectivity concepts that may have been missed with general paddling. The safer element will expand on these parts and also rescue skills for yourself and a group.

Weather dependant the morning is likely to be on the lake, with an interlude for lunch (either bring one or Café trip), then a river trip in the afternoon. There will be some rescue work so expect to get wet. A change of clothes is recommended.

Course cost is £25 which all goes to the club to help towards funding coaches and leaders for the club. For those that would like a certificate this is an additional £6.24
