Please join us for a River Clean Up Paddle.

On Saturday the 8th of June 2024 the club will paddle around the local river cleaning it up. As a club, we run these sessions once or twice a year and take the opportunity to spend a few hours on the water picking up, and returning, whatever rubbish we can find. Over the years we have collected all sorts from cans & bottles to trolleys, traffic cones, and chairs. We normally have at least one canoe with us, but we also often tie rubbish bags to the back of boats and return it that way.

The club can provide gloves  (though you may wish to bring your own) and grabbers. For club members, feel free to grab a boat as usual, from the club.

The paddle will meet at the club compound in Hinchenbrooke Country Park as normal, Saturday at 9:30 am.

Please note that this session is open to Members & Non-Members. However, if you are a non-member you:
  1. Must have Paddle UK Membership
  2. Must be a competent paddler and ideally have a Paddle UK/British Canoe certificate such as Discover or Explore
  3. Must have, and bring, your own boat (a canoe or kayak is ideal). Please note that it is not easy to get a paddleboard from the club base out into the main river along the brook due to overgrown river weeds.
This is part of the Clear Access Clear Waters - Big Paddle Clean Up initiative.
